Luis joined Kinross in November 2022, and has been recognized for his ability to build camaraderie and solidary within his team to the benefit of the operation, and for finding opportunities to promote social responsibility within our communities.
Recognizing the challenging living conditions of vulnerable children in his hometown – Horcón, located in the Elqui Valley – Luis initially set out to improve their quality of life through personal contributions and volunteer efforts.
He then expanded his efforts, organizing charity campaigns and activities on site to raise funds for the community which were quickly recognized and supported by his colleagues. Soon enough, Luis had recruited colleagues, neighbours, family members and local authorities including the fire department and police services to support the initiative. This included purchasing presents during the holiday season to ensure children had gifts to open on Christmas morning.
Luis’ charitable actions not only inspired his colleagues to participate in his initiatives, but to create their own charitable campaigns to support local communities and give back to our stakeholders. His efforts have increased our presence in the community and encouraged our employees to prioritize volunteering and social responsibility inside and outside of the workplace.
“Luis is a true corporate citizen and source of pride here at Kinross Chile. He is a widely respected employee and an inspiration to his peers. These initiatives are an excellent example of using your influence for good and we are proud of the positive impact he has had on our employees and the community.”
