Silver Winner: Cameron Dockery, Geological Technician, Bald Mountain

Cameron joined the Bald Mountain team in 2020 and has been recognized as a true safety champion who has made a positive impact on the overall health and safety standards of both Bald Mountain as a site, and the Elko community overall.

Cameron is an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and is currently pursuing an advanced certification – EMT 2 – to help further strengthen Bald Mountain’s emergency response capabilities. In addition to supporting on-site medical services, Cameron leads Bald Mountain’s ERT competition team and helped achieve a successful second-place finish in the 2025 Mine Rescue Olympiad!

Outside of Cameron’s work on the ERT, he is committed to instilling Kinross’ safety culture site-wide through leading the Annual Refresher Training (ART) course at Bald Mountain, a role he took on voluntarily in 2024. In addition to ART, Cameron’s involvement in ‘Stop the Job’ initiatives has strengthened safety awareness and empowered others to pause work when conditions are not safe. Additionally, he plays a key role in the ‘Fatality Prevention Program’ where he consistently provides ideas that enhance controls, reduce risks and improve overall field safety performance.

Cameron’s commitment to safety and ability to translate complex safety concepts into practical, real-world examples is unmatched at Bald Mountain and was recognized by the Nevada Mining Association (NvMA). Cameron’s recognition came from his creativity in developing a Ground Control model that demonstrated the effects of blasting on rock surfaces and the different types of failures that could occur in the field. He also successfully coordinated a safe and efficient route for piezometer cable access during dumping in a geotechnically sensitive pit area that ensured continuous data connectivity while maintaining ground stability and worker safety.

Although Cameron’s role is Geological Technician, he consistently goes beyond his day-to-day tasks to find innovative ways to incorporate safety into all aspects of the site, and encourages others to do the same through training and development.

“Cameron embodies the true meaning of Putting People First through his unwavering commitment to health and safety and innovative contributions to risk reduction and training. He is respectful, inclusive and provides an exceptional example of this value, encouraging others to do the same,” said Jason Cooley, Health & Safety General Supervisor, Bald Mountain.
