Marlon is a veteran employee at Paracatu with over 30 years of experience at Kinross. As a long-time employee, Marlon has built a reputation for leadership qualities rooted in three key pillars: Safety, Productivity and People.

His approach to safety focuses on implementing health standards and procedures in all aspects of his work and encouraging his team to view safety as a non-negotiable each day. This mindset resulted in one of his most significant accomplishments, when he led his team to achieve 39 years without a Lost-Time Injury (LTI), a substantial milestone.

As it relates to people, Marlon is known as a leader who is the ‘greatest encourager of growth’ at Paracatu. Marlon is committed to providing valuable learning opportunities for his team and working with them to identify career development opportunities that provide room to grow and explore various areas of the Company.

His leadership style is further distinguished by his support of his team through both work-related and personal challenges. When a member of his team developed an illness that required them to be away from work for extended periods of time, Marlon brought his team together to support their colleague from afar and ensure their workload was covered.

“Marlon demonstrates that safety, respect and people development are true priorities in his leadership,” said Barbara Luisa Nunes Pereira. “He encourages team participation, diverse opinions and promotes an environment of trust and inclusion. His ethical, accessible and committed approach contributes directly to a work environment that is safer, more collaborative and highly motivating.”
