See how Kinross Gold’s United States sites celebrated the Fourth of July!

August 06, 2026

On July 4th, the United States of America marked a historic milestone - the Semiquincentennial - 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, otherwise known as America250!

At Kinross, our Nevada and Alaska sites found new and exciting ways to celebrate this milestone through a series of events and activities designed to bring together our employees, their families and our communities.

In Nevada, over 40 employees came together to host one of the most popular events of the year – the annual Fourth of July community picnic. The day kicked off with the annual fishing derby with attendees competing in multiple age divisions and receiving prizes ranging from fishing poles, tackle boxes, bait and other fishing gear. Attendees then ramped up their energy by participating in the annual ‘Colour Run’ to promote health, exercise and wellness while competing for some fun prizes. Following the run, attendees participated in the community parade that traveled to White Park to kick off the Fourth of July picnic!

The picnic was attended by over 2,000 guests from Nevada including community members, employees and friends and family visiting from out of town. The event held something for everyone, ranging from American inspired snacks, to entertainment and activities for all ages. The competitive spirit carried on with horseshoe and cornhole tournaments, bingo and one of the day’s highlights – the charitable dunk tank event that saw leadership from Kinross Nevada volunteer to take a seat above the water while guest took turns attempting to ‘dunk’ them for funds raised for the local 4-H program to support local youth. The event concluded with an exciting fireworks display in town to celebrate the United States of America and their Independence.

In Alaska, our employees from Fort Knox and Manh Choh teamed up to support the annual Fourth of July parade in Tok, Alaska. The team handed out popsicle to spectators and volunteered at the community barbecue to cook up hot dogs and hamburgers for local friends, neighbours and family members, building relationships with one another and our stakeholders.

“Kinross is proud to continue supporting traditions that strengthen our community and bring our people together. The Fourth of July celebrations continue to grow each year thanks to the dedication to our employees, interns, volunteers, community partners and the many families who join us each year in celebrating. Kinross Nevada looks forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come,” said Kailyn Hunton, Human Resources Summer Intern, Round Mountain, who was responsible for leading Round Mountain’s Fourth of July Celebrations in 2026.
