Kinross Tasiast closed off 2025 by celebrating the conclusion of their month long annual
employee football tournament – the General Manager’s (GM’s) Cup!
Over the month of November, employees came together by department for a series of exciting
football matches to build collaboration and to celebrate the values that connect our workforce.
Employees competed in daily matches against opposing departments for an opportunity to
receive the first place trophy and to enjoy friendly competition.
The Championship Match took place on November 23rd and kicked off with opening remarks
from Jaylem Manhas, Vice-President and General Manager, Tasiast, who spoke on the
importance of teamwork, collaboration, mutual respect and how these core principles translate
to the workplace and building a strong culture at Tasiast.
After Jaylem’s remarks, the match began between the finalists: the Site Services and Mobile
Equipment Maintenance (MEM) departments. It was a tense ‘edge-of-your-seat’ competition and
ultimately resulted in the Site Services team defeating MEM with a 2-1 score!
The event concluded with a closing ceremony hosted by Claude Schimper, Executive Vice-President and
Chief Operating Officer, Afjal Hashim, Senior Vice-President, South American
Operations, and Joseph Kemp, Senior Vice-President, Africa & Canada Operations, and Jaylem Manhas, who
presented the first place trophy to the Site Services team, and outstanding player awards to
individuals whose achievements and contributions to the GM’s Cup were recognized over the
course of the month.
