Kinross Chile recently joined community partners to attend the 2025 Atacama Regional Meeting. The meeting brings together over 400 youth and their families to participate in a series of soccer matches, team-bonding events and community engagement activities through the ‘Fundación Fútbol Más’ program.
‘Fundación Fútbol Más’ is a community-focused program launched in 2018 that aims to connect youth and their families across ten communities in the Atacama region including Copiapó, Tierra Amarilla and Diego de Almagro, to build meaningful relationships through sport, education and physical activity. Since the program’s inception, the communities have seen a decrease in crime in the region, and an increase in the connectedness of both youth and their families with their neighbours.
In 2025, Kinross Chile partnered with SCM Carola, Pucobre, Gold Fields and Pacific Hydro to sponsor the program with the aim of inspiring youth and further developing relationships with our stakeholders.
“The ‘‘Fundación Fútbol Más’’ program aligns with our Company values that focus on engaging our workforce with our community members and building lasting relationships through interactive initiatives,” said Héctor Bustamante, Head of Communications, Kinross Chile. “We are very proud to be part of this initiative and of the positive impact it has had on our communities by providing children and their families with a shared space to learn the importance of teamwork.”
The Atacama Regional Meeting was a great success and an excellent opportunity to see the benefits of the program come to life through the strong bonds being built not only within individual communities, but across communities in the Atacama region.
