Kinross Manh Choh opens its doors for inaugural community tour!

May 29, 2025

Earlier this month, Kinross Gold was excited to open its doors for the first-ever community tour of our newest operating mine – Manh Choh!

Over 40 residents from Tok and surrounding villages headed to the site to get a behind-the-scenes look at the operation and the experts behind it who are responsibly developing the site from areas including geology, environment, operations, and community relations.

Attendees kicked off the day by getting an overall view of the site and were able to explore some of the equipment, including climbing into the cab of a 777-haul truck! Attendees then learned about the key efforts being made to protect the environment such as water management, reclamation, dust reduction and operating in harmony with existing ecosystems. The Manh Choh team also shared our goals for the operation and highlighted local priorities and community projects such as the Elder’s Home which was announced in August 2022.

“It’s important to us that the community sees not just our presence in the community, but we want them to see what we do and how we operate Manh Choh — with care, responsibility, and respect for the land and people around us,” said Patrick Filbin, Operations Director, Manh Choh. “These tours are a chance to build trust, answer questions, and show that we’re committed to doing things the right way, every step of the way.”

In an effort to continue building relationships and educating our community members on the Manh Choh project, Kinross is planning future opportunities for our neighbours to tour the site, to ask questions and stay engaged as the project moves forward. Stay tuned for more information!
