Kinross Gold senior leadership team (SLT) visit Curlew Basin project in Washington State

June 17, 2025

Last month, members of Kinross Gold’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) traveled to Republic, Washington, to gain first-hand insight into the exploration program, review current and planned work at the mill site and tailings storage facility (TSF), and tour the underground mine. Discussions throughout the visit also touched on past reclamation activities and community support initiatives at our advanced exploration project – Curlew Basin.

Gina Myers, General Manager, Kettle River Operations, Scott Guay, Project Director, Kettle River Operations, and Deana Zakar, External Affairs Superintendent, Kettle River Operations, served as tour guides, with subject matter experts from the site leading detailed briefings at each stop. The SLT toured the mill site – future home to the filter plant, new reclaim pond, and expanded TSF – followed by a walkthrough of the mill crusher. From there, they traveled to the K2 site, the former operation whose surface footprint now supports the Curlew Basin project, for an underground tour before wrapping up with lunch at the Curlew Saloon.

In addition to the tour of Curlew Basin, they viewed the former Lamefoot site – a reclaimed site that operated from 1994-2001 – which was noted as part of the broader reclamation efforts in the areas and highlighted in their visual materials. The SLT also received information on Kinross-supported community programs, including efforts to improve childcare, education, health and wellness, and emergency services across the region.

The SLT spent time at the K-Diamond-K Guest Ranch, where they joined members of the Kettle River Operations team for dinner. The evening provided an opportunity to connect with the Kettle River team and learn more about the Curlew Basin project from those closest to it.

“It was a pleasure to welcome our Senior Leadership Team to the site last month and have them see how the Kettle River team works together,” said Gina Myers. “We are proud of the teamwork that is ongoing at the project, and that we were able to share our culture of hard work with the SLT. We look forward to welcoming them back again soon!”
