Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders to be held May 6, 2009

Toronto, Ontario, March 10, 2009 - Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX: K; NYSE: KGC) will release its financial statements and operating results for the first quarter of 2009 on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, after market close. In connection with the release, Kinross will hold a conference call and audio webcast on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. ET to discuss the results, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Kinross will hold its Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Design Exchange, 234 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
