Purpose of Role: The Supply Chain Superintendent is responsible for managing the implementation and execution of the Purchasing, Warehouse and Logistics strategy for assigned commodities and or products, ensuring ongoing cross-functional coordination, and delivering annual improvements in total cost, quality, and service. This position is responsible for contributing to the process of sourcing and store strategy development, supplier selection, negotiation, and strategy refinement. Additionally this position will support the development and implementation of strong business systems to establish and manage supplier partnerships and to positively contribute to company objectives.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
- Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices
within purchasing and warehousing that contribute to a unified
business platform that is scalable, transferable to other
functional areas, and adds value for key stakeholders
- Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives;
models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and
prioritizes business goals
- Collaborates with senior management to identify and analyze
business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies
gaps and implements agreed upon solutions
- Identifies key performance measures for the team; monitors and
reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as
needed
- Uses strong negotiation skills and knowledge of product pricing
and availability to provide purchasing services to site
- Ensures the high quality of the products, equipment, and services
supplied
- Prepares and is responsible for all required documentation (i.e.,
contracts) supporting negotiation and ultimate purchasing,
including maintenance of inventory and tracking systems
- Provides purchasing services and communicates price changes as
required
- Independently handles the negotiation of standard terms and
conditions with respect to all capital and non-capital
purchases
- Expands bidders list by sourcing new suppliers, checking
references, and submitting bidding list to Management.
- Monitors the distribution of inquiries and bid packages to
vendors
- Receives and evaluates sealed bids, prepares bid analysis sheets,
and recommends favorable bidders
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of the warehouse, including
issues related to material logistics and expediting, storage and
inventory control maintenance, and / or property utilization in
accordance with mining operations, corporate and site policies,
procedures, and regulations
- Prepares communication materials, manuals and other written
materials related to purchasing and logistics
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience of more than 5 years of
related work experience
- College or technical training equivalent to 2 years of study in
business or engineering or equivalent work experience
- Completion of formal professional certification or designation in
appropriate area of expertise
- Complete knowledge of the principles within purchasing and
warehouse
- Ability to use computerized purchasing and materials management
systems and standard office equipment
- Ability to analyze situations, make logical decisions, and choose
best course of action
- High energy and self-motivated with strong organizational
skills
Additional Qualifications & Skill
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of Kinross' processes a definite
asset
- Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred
- Master in a Business Administration
- Good interpersonal skills required
- Well-developed technical report writing and presentation skills.
Very strong communications skills. Team player with a strong
inclination towards developing co-operative solutions
- Ability to 'cut to the chase', quickly identifying key technical
and business issues.
- Must be self-directed and work well in a highly unstructured
environment
