Purpose of Role
To oversee activities related to the analysis and interpretation of
metallurgic information and to ensure service and / or operating
standards are met (internally and / or externally). To design and

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
1. To oversee activities related to a system, program, or
process related to metallurgy
• Independently handles analysis of metallurgical
information
• Using advanced professional knowledge, acts as an advisor
to a variety of internal and / or external requests
• Proposes new work approaches, methods, and policies to
optimize performance and to ensure adherence to industry
regulations and organizational standards
• Contributes to the development of policies and practices
related to metallurgy
• Keeps on top of trends related to metallurgy and
incorporates this information into work assignments
• Monitors costs related to metallurgy and implements
approved recommendations for maximizing operational
efficiencies
• Assigns tasks to less experienced employees and provides
mentorship and guidance on complex or escalated issues
• Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product
or technical knowledge and skill set
• Participates in task forces related to area of
expertise
2. To analyze information and prepare technical
documents to support decision making
• Investigates, researches, and analyzes information and
issues related to metallurgy
• Prepares technical reports and documentation to ensure
compliance with industry and operational requirements
• Creates and analyzes databases to gather information,
improve performance and production, and reduce costs
• Conducts studies of metals and alloys before and during
processing to determine their properties
• Researches and recommends physical and chemical methods to
separate minerals and metals from their ores
3. To communicate information related to mineral
processing
• Assists with training and skill development on technical
issues in metallurgy
• Provides information on operating standards, compliance
requirements, and policies
• Provides information on mill process metallurgy,
production, and costs

Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations. Wears PPE
at all times while in the production environment. Is alert and
observes, corrects, and reports unsafe conditions. Follows
operating procedures and complies with all regulatory
requirements
Scope of Responsibility & Complexity
Work is technical and complex and involves routine and non-routine
and advanced technical assignments. Work is performed under limited
direction according to broad guidelines. Problem resolution
involves using judgement to adapt and apply procedures to address
and resolve unusual problem situations. Outcomes are reviewed in
terms of adherence to general policies, accuracy of methods, and
general efficiency. Ensures quality standards are upheld in their
field of specialization.
Minimum Qualifications & Skill
Requirements
• University graduation or diploma
• Additional specialized education of up to 4 years
• Formal professional or technical designation in appropriate
area of expertise
• 5 - 8 years of related work experience
• Sound understanding of area of expertise

Requirements
• In-depth understanding of Kinross' processes a definite
asset
• Previous experience in the mining industry is
preferred
• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in
the attached physical demands sheets
• Familiarity with industry standard wet and fire assay
analytical methods and sample preparation
