Overview of Role: This position is based in Republic, Washington and reports directly to the Vice President & General Manager of the Kettle River-Buckhorn mining operation and to the Director Human Resources North America . The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Human Resources function at the Kettle River-Buckhorn mining operation mine site including talent sourcing, selection and retention; performance and succession management; people development; employee engagement; HR policies and procedures; change management; employee relations; compensation and benefits; and HRIS. The successful candidate will effectively provide strategic HR leadership and partner with the mine site management team to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability and ensure alignment with the organization’s long-term strategies.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited
to, the following:
- Develops and implements HR strategies that successfully
support operations performance and align with the organization's
overall strategy
- Proactively collaborates with senior operations management to
identify and analyze business requirements and implements agreed
upon solutions
- Leads the people component of the site Strategic Business
Planning process and develops and implements plans to meet the
talent requirements of the mine site
- Adjusts HR strategies to respond to changing needs
- Develops the next generation of leaders by managing the site
succession planning process, including talent review and
development planning
- Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives
and models organizational values
- Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices within
human resources that contribute to effective business practices and
provides input into regional and global initiatives
- Manages initiatives for workforce planning, sourcing, selection,
promotion and retention to ensure effective staffing of all
positions
- Provides ongoing coaching to site senior management team
- Fosters a performance based culture by managing the performance
management process
- Ensures compliance with Federal and State employment
legislation
- Identifies and achieves key performance goals and measures for
the HR team and function
- Manages the day-to-day work and performance of the HR team
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- At least five years of related work experience with at
least three years of related management experience
- A bachelor's degree in a related field; a graduate degree and
professional HR designation or certification is preferred
- Work experience in the mining industry is strongly
preferred
- Proven ability to build a team and develop people
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication
skills
- Superior judgment and tact in dealing with sensitive issues and
confidential information
- Excellent relationship building skills; able to establish and
maintain effective working relationship
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and manage
dual reporting relationships
- Demonstrated coaching skills
- Must be able to travel 10 to 20 %
- Proficient in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,
Outlook etc) and HRIS
- Knowledge and understanding in interpreting complex laws, rules,
regulations, policies and guidelines, especially HR related
legislation
