Purpose of Role: Under the direction of the General Foreman, the Maintenance Foreman executes the maintenance strategy and schedule in alignment with the organization’s overall strategy (the Kinross Way).



Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:


1. To develop and implement business practices within maintenance that align with the organization's overall strategy

a. Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices (the Kinross Way) within maintenance that contribute to effectively managing the maintenance function

b. Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals

c. Collaborates with leadership to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agreed upon solutions

d. Identifies key performance measures for the team; monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed

e. Oversees all non-destructive testing on site and testing done by contractors

f. Ensures that proper maintenance schedules are designed and implemented to ensure proper maintenance of company assets

g. Assigns crews and equipment to specific tasks in order to meet daily and weekly schedules.

h. Coordinates multiple technology condition monitoring and corrective actions

i. Fills in for technicians during their absence

j. Writes and maintains quality control procedures for rebuild and / or purchase

k. Maintains written documentation needed for regulatory requirements and company policies



2. To lead and manage a team responsible for executing the maintenance strategy

a. Identifies strategies and key performance goals and acts as an advisor to direct reports; works to overcome challenges and barriers and minimize risk

b. Sets performance targets and measures, monitors, and manages overall performance of the function and direct reports

c. Builds the capabilities of the team to enhance maintenance's ability to achieve financial and operating strategies; hires appropriately, leverages the talents of the function, and takes corrective action where necessary

d. Answers queries and handles requests related to field maintenance, which includes problem solving and judgment

e. Ensures there is a comprehensive and effective succession management strategy in place for the function; identifies succession role requirements and high potential talent, and actively develops key talent

Develops policies and procedures relating to safety, the environment and individual and organizational development.  Ensures that direct reports and respective work areas are in compliance with Health and Safety policies and regulations. Ensures direct reports have the necessary training, skills, knowledge, and tools to do their jobs safely. Provides support to all areas on issues that jointly involve production and safety. Assists in accident and incident investigations and ensures that recommendations are implemented by agreed upon dates.



Scope of Responsibility & Complexity
Work is performed according to under limited direction according to established methodologies and processes (the Kinross Way). Problem resolution is within established guidelines and procedures, requiring the use of judgment to determine which of many methods are applicable in any given situation. Work is complex involving routine problems or studies. Seeks assistance from others when dealing with unfamiliar or problem situations. Ensures projects in the unit or area are completed on-time, on-budget, and to required standards. Initiates, implements, evaluates, and modifies own projects and plans in response to needs. Supervises and directs the work of a support or technical work unit



Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements

- Formal professional designation in appropriate area of expertise

- More than 5 years of related work experience

- More than 2 years of supervisory/management experience.

- General understanding of mine/mobile and/or plant maintenance.

- Additional specialized education of up to 2 years

- More than 5 years of related work experience



Additional Qualifications & Skill Requirements

- BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred

- Must be able to influence people to optimize technical resources through effective communication and ongoing credibility

- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively with minimal supervision

- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets auditors, regulators, partners, peers, and all levels of accounting and entry-level employees

- Certification preferred.

- Underground electrical experience preferred
