JDE Technology Area Specialist, Distribution, 25 York Street, Toronto

Purpose of Role: To oversee activities related to complex business systems with a focus on JD Edwards Supply Chain and Inventory modules and to ensure service and /or operating standards are met (internally and / or externally). To design and develop processes, practices, and methodologies in Business Systems as they relate to JD Edwards’ Distribution modules. To lead the software development lifecycle for Supply Chain systems though the stages of analysis, design, development, testing and deployment. To initiate and undertake projects to optimize business systems performance, and to ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards. To lead Supply Chain systems implementation projects including providing software development, application support, internal consulting, maintaining the system, and providing training for the areas of specialization. To provide input to IT-related business planning including, but not limited to, budgeting, scheduling, and workload planning.


Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:


1. To oversee activities related to systems, programs, and processes in Business Systems

a. Using advanced professional knowledge, implement, modify, enhance and maintain JD Edwards' Distribution and other JD Edwards ERP software modules; act as a Technology Area Specialist and advisor to a variety of internal and / or external requests related to business systems; travels to all other Kinross business units (sites) as directed / required;

b. Proposes new work approaches, methods, and policies to optimize performance and to ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards;

c. Contributes to the development of policies and practices related to Distribution  modules and other business systems as required

d. Keeps on top of trends related to business systems and incorporates this information into work assignments;

e. Monitors costs related to ERP projects and implements approved recommendations for maximizing operational efficiencies;

f. Assigns tasks to less experienced employees and provides mentorship and guidance on complex or escalated issues;

g. Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve JD Edwards' Supply Chain systems or technical knowledge and skill set for other ERP modules (e.g. Finance);

h. Participates in task forces related to JD Edwards' Distribution modules;

i. Plans and manages resources ensuring that project obligations and objectives are met;

j. Documents formal budget and resource plans;

k. Provides project leadership, training, and work direction of staff;

l. Manages and coordinates change requests and software support requirements; and assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of controls to ensure the integrity of business systems and application security;

m. Develops, tests, and implements new applications and system enhancements, ensuring the integrity of set-ups and configurations;

n. Optimizes existing applications and identifies to improve the efficiency of business processes. Travels to and works with all Kinross business units (sites) to resolve business process issues. Works with the corporate group to ensure the sites adhere to corporate policy and governance requirements;

o. Independently handles Distribution systems support and analysis;

p. Ensures all site personnel are properly trained on JD Edwards' Distribution software and / or other ERP modules;

q. Manages and develops reports from the JD Edwards' Distribution system software as needed;

r. Tracks new government regulations to ensure company stays in compliance;

s. Works with the Global Supply Chain Business Process owners and team leads to ensure that the needs of the department are coordinated with the processes and programs of IT to produce the best product to meet the organization's needs;



2. To analyze information, prepare technical documents and program software solutions to support decision making for the Supply Chain organization

a. Investigates, researches, and analyzes information and issues related to
business systems

b. Prepares business cases regarding projects and initiatives and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders;

c. Prepares technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements;

d. Develop (code) software solution using the J D Edwards development toolset  including custom applications, reports and interfaces

e. Provides input into budgets and operating plans and major capital expenditures in area of expertise;

f. Analyses site requirements and evaluates new technologies; plans, tests and implements new systems, networks, hardware or software to address business needs;

g. Analyses data in the databases and identifies data integrity issues; implements solutions to maximize data quality and compatibility with existing systems;

h. Ensures the optimum performance of JD Edwards' Distribution systems as measured by software usability, availability, and response time.



3. To communicate information related to business systems and to mentor others

a. Assists with training and skill development related to business systems;

b. Provides information on operating standards, compliance requirements, and policies to key stakeholders;

c. Recognized as an internal expert in area of expertise for JD Edwards' Distribution  modules and troubleshoots unusual or complex issues including design and testing of custom solutions;

d. Mentors analysts within the department. May also perform related duties typically associated with supervision including, but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees;

e. Develops training plans, end-user documentation and trains new users on Distribution and other ERP modules;

f. Performs security administration and account administration of the Distribution and other ERP application modules;



4. To lead project teams and internal task forces

a. Leads project teams including establishing project plans and milestones, analyzing risks, developing budgets, and delegating work assignments and is accountable for results;

b. Sets performance targets and measures and monitors the overall performance of project teams;

c. Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization's values;

d. Demonstrates business acumen which includes balancing the needs of the business, clients, and employees when making decisions;

e. Leads software development activities related to all Distribution systems in use including design, coding and testing of integration points with the ERP system

f. Leads JD Edwards' ERP projects and applies innovative solutions to very highly complex systems, hardware, software, networking, programming, and / or applications problems;

g. Provides technical support, maintenance, and specialized end-user training to ensure effective systems utilization and integration.



Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in IT and / or a related field - mandatory requirement

- Five years of related work experience, implementing and converting manual or semi-automated processes to JD Edwards One World 8.10 or higher release levels -  mandatory requirement

- A total of more than six years of related work experience in computing industry in diverse disciplines including, but not limited to, software, hardware, project management, system design, and implementation - mandatory requirement

- Four years experience in Supply Chain systems - mandatory requirement

- Previous supervisory experience and project management experience

- Ability to identify, define, interpret, and resolve complex technical issues

- Previous experience influencing and effectively communicating with internal and external customers, vendors, project teams and senior management

- Five years experience of full cycle ERP implementation experience

- Project Management Professional certification from PMI

- In-depth understanding of Kinross' processes a definite asset

- Additional specialized education of up to four years including a master's level degree is an asset

- Previous experience in the Mining industry is preferred and would be an asset

- Ability to teach users in small and medium class sizes
